Gary has enjoyed a long and distinguished career in both horseracing administration and real estate. Having completed his business degree in 1981 Gary’s love of sports and in particular the racing industry saw him join the Sydney Turf Club and later the Australian Turf Club. With his finance background Gary was the Club’s youngest ever senior executive as Chief Financial Executive of this prestigious organisation established in 1842. Gary was integral in major projects and initiatives for NSW and nationally for over 20 years.
In 2007 the opportunity arose to join McGrath Estate Agents as Chief Operating Officer. Moving into the role of Head of Franchise , Gary and his team were instrumental in growing the brand from 30 offices in NSW to over 100 offices nationally along the east coast.
Gary believes that horseracing gave him the perfect grounding for real estate as both industries are predominantly a people business involving all backgrounds. Gary thrives on finding a win/win result with his transparent and authentic negotiation and communication skills.
In Gary’s latter part of his career, he has focused on organisational development, people coaching and team building skills which he sees as key for any company’s growth and more important sustainability.
It is with the above skills and experience that Gary is passionate that he can add enormous value to X Commercial as the company enters an exciting growth phase.
